Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning presents a quick and safe means of obtaining a smooth and dewy complexion with the added benefit of improving the effectiveness of other treatments such as facials, laser, microdermabrasion and chemical peels as there is deeper product penetration.
YOU have cleansed your skin, applied the face mask, yet you still don’t have that smooth and dewy complexion you were aiming for. But don’t fret; there is way with the on-trend dermaplaning.

Dermaplaning is also a hair-removal option and works like this: it is done by using a scalpel to manually exfoliate dead skin cells from the face. It gently shaves the top layer of the skin called the stratum corneum (dead skin layer) and vellus hair, aka peach fuzz.

The removing of the top layer of dead skin cells and hair helps the effectiveness of treatments like facials, laser, microdermabrasion and chemical peels as there is deeper product penetration.

Dermaplaning tricks the skin into thinking it has been wounded, which stimulates cellular turnover and helps decrease those telltale fine lines and wrinkles we curse, with little to no downtime.

It has yet another positive result; it prevents oils, dead skin and debris from being trapped inside the follicle, helping to prevent acne. And there’s nothing worse than acne once you have escaped the trying teenage years.

You will also find that your make-up  goes on smoother when dermaplaning, and bonus, you need only apply little dabs of products like foundation, concealer, and powder because they work more effectively on smooth, exfoliated skin - the perfect skin primer!

Dermaplaning is an ideal option for clients with sensitive skins and pregnant women who need a deep exfoliation.

“Will dermaplaning make me grow a beard?” Good heavens, no! Bearded-women are still not fashionable and you won’t find your facial hair sprouting like, well beans.

Dermaplaning only removes the fuzz just above the surface of the skin and does not (and cannot) impact the growth, colour or texture of a woman’s facial hair. Hormones and hormonal conditions are to blame for affecting hair growth.

Please note: not everyone is a candidate for this treatment. Those with active and cystic acne should avoid this type of hair removal, as it can cause further irritation. Also, it is contraindicated for clients with hirsutism, a condition of excessive male-pattern hair growth in women.
